Sarah

Sarah

Sarah has been a musician for as long as she can remember! After starting to play the recorder at infant school, she went on to study the violin at 7 years old and then took up the clarinet at secondary school. Sarah went on to gain a first class honours degree in music from the University of Bristol before embarking on a career in librarianship. Music has always been a major part in Sarah''s life as she has continued to play clarinet with two local orchestras and various chamber groups in the Reading area. Since giving up work to look after her two young boys, Sarah now spends her time juggling her own musical activities with those of her husband (a cellist!) and children. She first came across Kindermusik with her eldest son at pre-school and both boys regularly attended group music sessions. Sarah enjoys teaching her sons piano and the sound of bongos, mini violins and singing (amongst other things!) can frequently be heard around the house.

Studio Policy

By signing up to Kindermusik with Sarah class, you agree to our full terms and conditions:

Terms and conditions of enrolment:

Introductory classes

Parents new to Kindermusik with Sarah are welcome to attend an introductory class before enrolling. This gives every family the chance to trial the Kindermusik experience before committing long-term. There is a small charge for this introductory class and families can attend at any time subject to availability. If a class cannot be offered immediately, Kindermusik with Sarah will operate a waiting list system and places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Enrolling and withdrawing (baby, toddler and preschool classes)

Families can join a baby, toddler or preschool class at any time subject to availability. As we believe that children benefit greatly from continuity, repetition and familiarisation, families are charged on a rolling 4-week basis in advance of the new themes starting in class. If a family starts mid-month, their first payment will be prorated. During 2020/21, families will be charged on the 4th of the month EXCEPT during the months of December, April, July and August. We are unable to offer credits or refunds for classes missed by families due to, for example, illness or last-minute holidays. However, we do offer a make-up facility whereby families can attend another class on another day to replace any that are missed (subject to availability). Kindermusik with Sarah assumes continuous enrolment and requires 4 weeks’ notice in writing if a family wishes to withdraw from classes. A cancellation fee equivalent to 4 weeks of classes will be charged in lieu of appropriate notice being given. A family can temporarily withdraw for one 4-week theme and their space will be retained.

Enrolling and withdrawing (Young Child)

Enrolment for the Young Child (4-7 years) classes is done on a semester basis and enrolment can take place at any point during Semester 1 subject to availability. Each semester lasts 15 weeks and a deposit (£50) is required at enrolment to secure a place. The full balance must be paid in advance of the first class. If you enrol mid semester, the cost will be prorated. Kindermusik with Sarah will assume continuous re-enrolment unless informed in writing as below.

It is assumed that your child will complete all 4 Semesters of Young Child and one half-term’s written notice (5 weeks) of withdrawal from class is required. If you do not give the required notice, you will be charged 5 weeks tuition in lieu of such notice. Kindermusik with Sarah is also unable to offer credits or refunds for classes missed by families.

Siblings in class

Younger siblings can be accommodated in most classes. For Level 1 and 2 classes, younger siblings are free to attend until 6 months old after which a discounted rate is available for the additional child. Siblings are welcome to join sharing time in Level 3, 4 and 5 classes at no cost. Discounts are also available for twins in Foundation classes and for siblings in different classes.

Cancelled classes

In the event of Kindermusik with Sarah having to cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances, these classes will be conducted online at the normal class time via Zoom. If this is not possible, the class may be rescheduled at a later date or, failing that, a refund or credit will be given for the missed class. Cancellation of a physical class due to bad weather, government restrictions or illness will be firstly notified on our social media channels (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) plus all families will be sent a text (if you have registered your mobile number on my.kindermusik.com) and/or email.

Communication

Email is the preferred form of communication from Kindermusik with Sarah and all of our important notices will be sent by email. Please keep your contact details up-to-date on my.kindermusik.com and ensure that your email client recognises our email addresses by adding them to your address book: info@kindermusikwithsarah.co.uk / sarah@kindermusikwithsarah.co.uk. All families are welcome to join our Kindermusik with Sarah Families Facebook page so that we can all communicate informally away from class.

COVID-19 exceptions and alternations.

Whilst social distancing is in place to reduce the transmission of COVID-19, introductory classes can only take place via Zoom. Anyone wishing to attend an in-person class must sign up fully for the class to create consistent classes with consistent attendees.

For the same reason, no in-person make-up classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers will be available until further notice. However, additional monthly Zoom classes for these age groups will be made available for families to attend as a make-up.

Kindermusik with Sarah reserves the right to alter class timetables and class delivery mode at any time to accommodate changes to government guidelines or business needs. We will aim to give advanced notice to any affected families of changes but with an everchanging situation, this may not always be possible.

No family must attend a class if they have any of the following symptoms:

- Temperature of 37.8 C or above

- Loss of taste or smell

- New, consistent cough

Educators at Kindermusik with Sarah reserve the right to refuse entry to classes to any family who they suspect may be demonstrating any of the above symptoms or who are not respecting the need to socially distance or follow other rules required as per our risk assessment.
